    320g build/journey/experiment :-)

Ha! It's actually my middle name, I just liked the sound of having my first and middle as my DJ name. Thanks a bunch, I am so looking forward to this to see how everything comes together. The stand alone blew me away.

    How is this possible?

Thank for that Kurt_Nelson! Algae, yes. A bit on the left side wall of the tank, a bit on the other, but not that much. Lol...yeah, pH is 7.8. Thanks for the feedback.

    How is this possible?

I have had a 10g (practice tank) running for the last 7 months. How is it that all my levels for PH, Phosphate, Nitrate, Nitrite, Ammonia are at 0, SG within decent levels at 1.023, temp at 78.2..... WITHOUT ANY WATER CHANGES. EVER. I have 3 fish in the tank now, all getting along (and I...

    75G Reef Build

Are you kidding? This is like a guide, it's great. I've picked up some great pointers, I just have no room for a sump, and I have a little one that gets into EVERYTHING.

    75G Reef Build

I need to catch up on this, as I am now starting the process for my 75G SW conversion from FW. Looks to be an interesting read, right from the first page.

    Cleaning a canister filter properly

Even if you completely replace the white pad, you will be fine for bacteria. Just the fact that it is slowly your water flow tells me it should be changed. I would be more worried if you told me that you did a MAJOR (50%) water change replaced the white pad and totally cleaned off the bio-balls...

    Cleaning a canister filter properly

Well yeah, that makes sense. The water flow from tank enters intake on filter, it will hit the white pad first and traps any type of solid, as it passes down in the cannister you should see less and less of it. I will check mine when I get home in a couple of hours. I am due, I usually check...

    Cleaning a canister filter properly

What order do you run each stage of filtration? In my opinion, there would be more than enough beneficial bacteria trapped even if you partially rinsed off the bio-balls and the blue sponge sections.

What made you want a REEF aquarium?

FEAR. Due to lack of knowledge. Have always kept freshwater tanks, but ALWAYS admired the colour and beauty of a SW setup. I am older know, I do think of myself as wiser, and the decisions are a little slower to pass. I currently have a 75G FW that I am extremely happy with. Heck, I even...

    180-Gallon Upgrade Starts NOW!!!

Thanks for the input. I am reading through this thread, some awesome info. Big Al's here in Canada (and I am sure in the States as well) had a sale on a 2G, (check link) on sale for $59.99 CDN about 2 months ago. This was up and running fine until my losses. You're tempting me ryshark, I...

    Wierd water readings

Fair enough. Interesting. For the life of me, I can't remember what type they were. I know they were cichlids, very tough as they survived until I had to give them away.
