Hey Delapool :) I think that I may have sorted it. As my filter has a pre- filter I took those sponges out and gave them a wash in tank water. All seems to be ok now :) I had a peek at the main filter sponges while i was in the and they all looked spotless. Fingers crossed we past that...

So essentially I am currently mid cycle with ammonia on a 125 litre with an Oase Biomaster 350 canister. To seed the tank my local pet shop gave me some of their filter material (not sure what it's called but but it looks like a bit like a white nut or white round with hole in the middle)...

So I just wanted to give you a quick update on my tank. Thank you for the advice coralbandit because it does seem like I've got some movement! I dosed back up to 4 yesterday and my ammonia dropped to 2 today and my Nitrite has increased slightly. We are closer to 0.5 now rather than 0.25...

By the way on the Nitrates - mine is currently sat at about 10ppm still. I was expecting this as this is the level which my water naturally contains. When I'm cycled I'm going to put a few plants in to try and help a bit.

So far I have been following ecos method for fishless cycle but you are right there seem to be dozens of iterations. So I've done some testing today and drum roll!........ no change :) I've taken your advice and dosed up to 4 again so here's hoping that this may get some kind of reason from...
