    Play sand and Lava rock

Basically what cmor1701d said. Two flavors. Crepe stated it as well: "Play sand doesn't buffer at all. Silica is completely inert." If you are not planning on the product you are buying to be used as a buffer then go wild. I personally go with marine sand that looks good and does...

    Moving a tank

Check around and see if anyone might have a couple empty Instant Ocean salt containers. Makes it easier to move with the lock down lid by spinning it one direction (Hammer it open). You could put you LR and 5 gal of water in this container w/o any spilling. 2nd Tip. Might stop and check the...

    Play sand and Lava rock

Ditto on ditching the lava rock. Doesn't do anything but add to your decor. If you don't plan on a lot of snails and starfish then the sand is fine. You will need to address having some "real live sand or live rock" to help stabilize the tank. It's debated that some sand is useless. (I...

    Plants for SW sump?

Caulerpa is what most sump users in my area are using. Mangroves are a little more needy. (IMHO) - In my honest opinion

It's Playsand season. Shout out when you find some!

Time to make the yearly track to HD and Wally world myself. I swear folks look and point when I pour this stuff on the ground into a pile of excess sand. One of these days an FBI agent it going to jump out and think I'm a terrorist or something.

How much did your tank cost?

I'm at about $3k myself - 75 Gal I'd have to say don't forget the operational costs per month. (Power, More Salt, etc) If the wife see's this.. It's in PESO's. ;) Shhhhhhhhhhh..

More LFS pictures (not dial up freindly, sorry)

Would love to pay $15 for shrimp. We have a typical cost in Alaska running around $20 - $28 depending on the "sale".

auto fill or water changer system

Ziggy - You are correct... It does change my SG if I'm not watching my levels. Usually I check it before I add the water with my Refractometer. Then based on that I adjust what I'm putting into the sump. IE: 5 Gal mix being added would most likely only have half the salt needed. Like 2-3...

How does a BTA sting feel to humans?

I know that the fish are not too excited about it. But I have a need to get fairly close to my smaller BTA to feed him. Not that excited about getting stung (if it's possible even). Has anyone heard of or hand any first hand experience in this area? I don't exactly plan on shoving my hand...

    Worms/Centipedes

Not sure. I've got a few of them myself. They never seem to get too big. Most of them are hitchhikers on the rock.

Cycling with flake food (and new tank updates)

Nice touch with the tonga. I'd juggle the far right pile to try and make a few more holes for the fishes to swim thru / around.
