I would say that if the tank is well established, you should be fine , still I recommend to do weekly water change, like a 50%. Keep watching your readings of ammonia,etc.

I think that with your normal cleaning and water changes you should be fine, in my opinion there is not need to “remove” the medication immediately

I think that you are ok also, if your decision will be based on how the plants do, give it a chance before you spend the money , you will see and learn, see how the fish and the plants do with the actual filter rate for at least 3 months and then decide. But honestly I think that you are just fine
