    Need help with tank mates

I currently have an established 65 gallon tank with a comet goldfish and a pleco. Long story short, I also recently had to add a kissing gourami to the mix. She has only been there one day and shows a little aggression towards the comet, but the comet is quite a bit bigger and seems to hold its...

    Sick Oranda

Thanks for the advice, I will start doing that. In the meantime, wondering how to treat my Oranda. He has deteriorated overnight. He has a cotton-like growth on his head and his fins don’t look healthy (starting to look frayed). I had fasted the tank for two days to feed peas, but he did not...

    Sick Oranda

I believe my Oranda is sick and am wondering how to treat. I noticed him sitting on the bottom of the tank a couple weeks ago, but it was early in the morning and I thought he was sleeping. As of yesterday, he has begun spending most of his time bottom sitting. I don’t know how to tell if he is...

    Potential infection

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I really appreciate you taking the time to help and give advice. I think I’m going to try to move the gourami. I’m going to wait to see if the molly heals first though. I don’t want to be stressing about more fish when I already feel like the crazy fish...

    Potential infection

Guessing I can’t put my gourami in there either. -_- Going to try to rehome him before he gets too big.

    Potential infection

Yes. The ulcer was from the new plants. My Oranda developed a similar cotton spot on his head and the last goldfish was showing signs of bacterial infection in his poop. But all the ulcers are finally gone and things are looking good after lots of water changes and a lot of Melafix. The...

    Emergency! Fish upside down

My molly is upside down. I don’t know if he has ammonia poisoning or swim bladder. It started out as clamped fins and he was in a u shape at the bottom of the tank for a day. Then he started swimming better and around the tank. Two days later he started swimming vertical and is now upside down...

    Molly in shock?

Pic of the tank in case it’s helpful. Working on the water change which is why the water is low.

    Molly in shock?

It’s a kissing gourami. The tank is 8.25 x 24 x 14. I have the ill platy and molly in an isolation tank. It is too small for them long term but wanted to give them a break from the other fish harassing.

    Molly in shock?

I will start changing the water now. Not sure the store will take them back since I’ve already had them 2 months. Annoyed that I specifically asked if that number and type of fish was okay for my size tank and they even said I could put in more than I did. In the meantime, is there anything I...

    Molly in shock?

I have two mollies, two platys, and one gourami. I immediately tested the water after that huge change and got the ammonia down from 8+ to 0.5. I just retested the water and the ph is 7.8, ammonia 4, nitrite 0, and nitrate 5. I cannot figure out what I’m doing wrong. The tank was fully cycled...

    Molly in shock?

Current plan: not going to feed tomorrow and then I will try the frozen pea remedy the next day. I also ordered some of the meth blue treatment of the Melafix does not work. Not sure what else to do

    Potential infection

Solved with Melafix. Have been treating for about three weeks and the Moore is completely healed and the fancy is almost healed (still a white spot but no cotton and slowly shrinking).

    Molly in shock?

I may have made a fatal error. My 13 gallon tank has been established for about two months. I had been doing small water changes. I recently got a vacuum and water tester. I learned the ammonia levels were greater than 8 ppm. So, I did a 90% water change and tried to vacuum as much of the debris...
