Clown Plecos stay small, 4 or 5 inches I think. I have one in my 55 and I really like him. They need driftwood as part of their diet but since you already have some that will not be a problem. I have heard some people say that they are not very good algae eaters but mine keeps the tank perfect.
Do you mean a Nitrite of 1? 10 seems really high! Did they test your Ammonia? I agree that a 50 percent water change is a good idea. You will most likely need to do a water change every other day for a while. If you can, getting a liquid test kit would be a good idea. That way you can keep...
I don't know how compatible it would be with the german blue rams but have you thought about a Gourami? They are very colorful with interesting personalities and get anywhere between 4-6 inches. It would make a good center-piece fish for your tank.
woodsplace1- I am in Kettering I found Elvis at the Jack's Aquarium in Bever Creek. Another really good place is Aquarium Adventures in Cincinnati. That store is huge and has some really amazing fish. They even have a show tank with a fully grown Arrowanna and wow that thing look mean.
I feed my fish twice a day. Just make sure to give them no more than they can eat in a couple of minutes. Fish are always hungry and will eat far more than they should if given the opportunity.
If you had it tested before you added fish what did you use to cycle the tank? If you did not have fish, or some other source of Ammonia, then your tank is probably not cycled. Just running an empty tank with the filter running will not cycle your tank.
Fish waste produces Ammonia, which is...
Do you have a test kit? If not you should probably get one, the liquid reagent kits are the best. The strips can be a little inaccurate after they are opened. If your Ammonia readings are zero, your Nitrites are zero, and your Nitrates are climbing then you are cycled.
Also forgot to...
My favorite fish are my two Plecos. I have a small Clown Pleco named Mack in my 55 gal, who I have yet to get a good picture of, and a Blue Panaque Pleco named Elvis in my 90 gal. Here is a pic of Elvis
Welcome to AA :) :)
Is your tank already cycled? If not, you may want to read up on the nitrogen cycle.
If by sucker fish you mean plecos then I would say salt would be a bad idea. Plecos are scaleless fish and could get burned by the salt. The use of Aquarium Salt is a much debated...
I agree with severum mama about Tiger Barbs being nippy. I have a small school of 4 Tigers and they do get aggressive when I try to add more fish to "their" tank. I am planning on increasing their school, hopefully that will settle them down a little. They are definitely a lot of fun to...
Cool looking frog! :)
