Post your malawi set up pics here!!!

Other than that I think it is a great looking substrate. The fish move it around and it looks different every day.

That's what I used as well. I wish I had picked something else. Some of the grains are magnetic which is a pain when using my algae magnet.

Lol. The base rocks are on the bottom of the tank as they should be. So they can dig until they are blue in the face.

I have 22 mbuna and 3 peacocks at the moment. I feel like I could add 10 more. But I am waiting for some specific fish to show up at the LFS. This rocks were stacked very carefully. They are quite stable. I have always done my mbuna tanks that way. I love watching them cruise in and out...

    My 180 mbuna build

Thanks so much! The more the better. This setup has plenty of room up top and in front for swimming.

    My 180 mbuna build

Those fish are there to stay. Once my tanks are set up it is survival of the fittest.

Here it is. Finally done. I need to add another 20 juvies. Currently there are 19. 5 demasoni, 5 Lombardi, 5 yellow labs, a pair of red zebras and aceis.

    30gal. Tank w no fish...

No offense taken. The reason I suggested community/tetras is because cichlids (new and old world) should be in larger tanks. Angels could work in a 30. But tetras are pretty colorful and there is a wide variety to choose from. Plus most of them school, which is neat. Good luck!

    55 tetra tank

I have had this tank for a could of years. Pretty simple. Neons, glow lights, black skirts, blood fins, epse (sp?) rasboras, black neons, red eyes, and a cool yoyo loach. I am sure I am leaving something out. Pretty easy to take care of. It sits on a ledge so I can watch tv thru it...

    30gal. Tank w no fish...

Tanks that size I like to go community. A couple schools of neons and glow light tetras would look awesome with some driftwood and some java fern.

    New tank

Judging from the over-bite it's a Labeotropheus fuelleborni.

    Jessica's 110g Malawi Build

Thanks! I will be adding two 36" marineland double bright led strips. Plenty of white light and some blue. I got a good deal @100$ each during a labor day sale. Problem is they won't be here until Monday or Tuesday along with my heater and wave makers. I will post pic when it is up and 100%...

    Jessica's 110g Malawi Build

I just went thru something similar. I bought a used 180 and stand of Craigslist with the intention of stocking it with mbuna. Here is a list of what I felt lie I had to do. -sand and strip stand -added additional bracing to the stand. A 2x4 cut 3 times did the trick. -stain and seal stand...

Looking to get back into African Cichlids

I folks. I am new here, so far I love the forum. I used to have several African tanks ranging from 55 to 125 gallons. Then I got married and acquired some children and the fish took a backseat. 10 years later I want them back. I have been easing my way back into the hobby. Both of my sons...
