Check the pressure of your water supply. If the pressure isn't high enough, it will not make RO water as quickly or as efficiently as it should. If the pressure is too high, it could damage the membrane. The instructions that came with the unit should tell you what the pressure should be.
I use the "el cheapo" brand timers. I have several of them plugged into a surge protector that is plugged into a GFCI wall outlet. That outlet is the only thing on that electrical circuit. I ran it especially for the aquarium. GFCI is a must. Electricity and water mix way too well together. UL...
That's funny that you posted that. I was just thinking about the exact same thing. I was topping off my tank and ran out of water. I was thinking that I needed to make more (buffer some of my RO water). At the same time contemplating an auto top off unit and wondering about people that have...

That is my favorite part too. The fish are great, the coral is cool but the little life is the fun part. Every day I look in there not knowing if today I'll find something new and amazing.
I have emerald crabs, peppermint shrimp and blueleg hermits all in the same 75 gallon tank. Actually it has a CBS, cleaner shrimp and Halloween hermit as well. No issue amongst anyone. The emerald crab will occasionally posture towards the other inhabitants if the get too close during feeding...
