More pleco problems and medication advice

I've been busy lately and haven't been on the forums much, but I just wanted to update this thread to say the pleco has made a full and complete recovery. Thanks everyone for your advice and support!

More pleco problems and medication advice

Update: Well the pleco seems to be doing great. I came back from my trip to find him still alive and the white patches are almost completely gone. He still has a tiny bit of white on his head, but that appears to be disappearing too. If it is gone by the time I get home from work, I will does 1...

More pleco problems and medication advice

Update: The pleco does seem to be doing a little better with the Maracyn. I'm watching closely now to see if the spots disappear. I do have one question though. I have to go out of town this weekend. I will be leaving tomorrow night and coming back Sunday night. I can dose the tank before I...

Yes he is still eating and as far as I can tell he is well fed (no caved in stomach or anything).

Most wild catfish get much longer than 18 inches, however, it takes a good long while for them to get anywhere near that large. I personally wouldn't keep one in captivity without having a very large pond, however, you may be ok for a while especially if you have one of the smaller varieties.

Oh ok. Well it probably is columnaris then. Some bad news though. The blue stomach is back. It isn't dark, just blue. I am going to start Maracyn treatment today. (Hopefully if my husband can pick some up on his way home from work since my cart won't start - just what I need.. But anyway..) Do...

Hm, I guess columnaris is a possibility but it really isn't fuzzy at all. It's just like a weird white coloration.. or discoloration actually.

Yes he is still with us! I think I am seeing some improvement in him and the blue color on his stomach is gone so maybe that was caused by the disease afterall? I am going to continute the Pimafix/Melafix because it seems to be working although I need to buy some more tomorrow because I...
