    Yes check your water. I believe this was your original problem, chlorine since it will kill fish in hours, and you said you never cycle a tank and don't add any de chlorination. Chlorine information is here and more here. Chlorine in the aquarium.

    I gave up on Aquaclears and went with Tidal Filters, 75 and 55. Always restarts after a power failure, removable basket for easy cleaning, tons of room for pot scrubbies or foam and easily pimped for more water flow.

    MIght as well check the stator to see if it works. Take off the head unit, turn it upside down. Remove the impeller. Plug the unit back in. Take a screwdriver and put it in the hole and move it all around. It should pull to all sides everywhere. Check for a weak spot.

    What are your exact water parameter numbers? Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH? What water conditioner are you using to remove chlorine whenever you add or change water?

    Well what are your numbers? Tanks size? Any fish? pH level?? Water changes and live plants are the only things that will reduce ammonia.

    Well since you state you have 2-4 ppm ammonia, you should change 50% water now. Test everyday until you see your ammonia at 0. Would be nice to test your tap water itself for ammonia too. Just in case there is some in there.
