    sick keyhole cichlid... dianosis/treatment suggestions?

I have a 38 gallon tank with 4 keyhole cichlids, 4 panda cories, and a clown pleco. One of my keyholes seems very stressed lately. He spends all of his time in one corner of the tank behind plants, and is showing dark colors typical of a stressed/frightened keyhole. His fins are clamped as...

    free tank!! (almost :()

well, thanks for all the suggestions... but we decided to get rid of the tank. the trim was stuck tight, and the whole project was overwhelming me. BUT... i did some more trash picking today :) (i know, horrible...) my neighbors set out a metal tank stand with their trash. It will fit...

    free tank!! (almost :()

yeah, the tank does have that plastic trim around the bottom... i probably will just get rid of it. I would have used it in my classroom, and i don't think i'd be able to trust it not to leak, or break. oh well... i guess it's true that you can't get anything for free anymore

    free tank!! (almost :()

i'm not so much worried about the cost of repair as much as the skill required... i'm not sure that i trust my DIY skills enough for a project like this!

    free tank!! (almost :()

so i just picked up a tank from the side of the road... i know, sounds weird, but it appeared to be in really good shape (people in my neighborhood tend to leave things out by the curb when they want someone to take it off their hands). When i got it home i emptied out some leaves and other...

    fish for classroom??

Thanks kimberly! i agree, it's great to keep living things in a classroom, whether it be animals or plants- unfortunatly, fish are just about the only animal that we're allowed to keep in the classroom (at least where i live) for different reasons. I also agree keeping population down by...

    fish for classroom??

I just got 2 teaching job offers for september, one for kindergarten and one for preschool (yay!) I haven't decided which to take yet, but i have always known that i would keep a small tank in my classroom. My plan is for a small 10 gallon tank, as space and maintainance can often be issues...

    Need Just Alittle help! Plz

in my experience, the smaller, non-chain stores will take fish off your hands, but usually not for store credit. If petsmart won't take them, see if you can find someone who will. Even if you don't get your money back, at least you won't have to worry about not being able to give the fish what...

    wal-mart MURDERERS -poll

Remember that Wal-Mart is a very large corporation... Even if the CEO of wal-mart decided that wal-mart stores should hire more knowlegable staff for the fish dept, it would be hard for him to maintain that expectation throughout the thousands of wal-marts nationwide. It would be up to...

    goldfish on hunger strike???

I posted a while back about my comet who was not eating. Well, since then he went through a period of time where he would go after the food, the spit it out. Now he's back to ignoring the food. I have tried goldfish flakes, goldfish floating pellets, and slow sinking pellets, as well as peas...
