Can anyone identify this weird spot on my molly? (with pics)

I guess I should have clarified. The pH isn't something I play with all the time. I just meant, in case someone were to comment that the pH should be 7.0, my water seems to stick at 7.4. I don't monkey with it. I did a little during the cycle, and once afterwards, but then gave up when I...

Can anyone identify this weird spot on my molly? (with pics)

Please see these pics: http://www.orchardvalley.net/fish/ (it's a directory with three photos). Not the best photos, but you try it. :) 1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the best of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated...

Could use some serious help. I keep losing fish

Ok, here's more info... Both tanks have exactly the same readings: pH - 7.2 - 7.6 (somewhere between these two) Ammonia - 0 Nitrite - 0 Nitrate - 0 - I double-checked this. The color is a little darker than the 0, but not quite as dark as the 5.0. The filters I am using: 5 gallon: Whisper...

Could use some serious help. I keep losing fish

as of right now, the betta is alone. The neons are in a school of four. The molly is one of the fortunate, healthy ones. I personally believe you are. When fish are confined in a small tank, they will tend to pick on each other, especially if they sense one is ill. This is what I have...

Could use some serious help. I keep losing fish

I use that kind (Aquarium Pharmaceuticals). They're the test-tube kind, not test strips. No live plants. I should have been clearer on this. I meant that I did this regularly throughout the cycle. Now that the cycle is complete, I don't have to do this. The bettas were fine in both tanks...

Could use some serious help. I keep losing fish

Wow! I wake up to a ton of answers! Thanks friends! I will double check this later today, but I know it had been that high at one point, but is now and has been at zero. I am using the Aquatic Pharmaceuticals kits. I have seperate kits for pH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

    new aquarium.....dead fish??

Your ammonia level is way too high, as is the pH if you want to have community fish (may be ok for the goldfish for the moment? dunno). Even though you added ammonia lock, you still need to do frequent water changes. At this point, probably 50% of your water at a time until you get that...

    Betta water

I was forced to move my daughter's betta out of the aquarium into a smaller 1-gallon tank since we added a molly. This one-gallon tank has an undergravel filter that came with it. How do you go about changing the water out for bettas? Since there is no bio cycle (I guess one could develop...

Could use some serious help. I keep losing fish

Hello all, Please bare with me, this message may become long so I give enough info so as to not require a bunch of responses to questions of what I have and haven't already tried. The short story is, a few months ago, my kids decided they wanted fish. My son was given a ten-gallon tank...
