    Tom's bumps/lumps

I guess people in this state don't bring their goldfish to the vet. One clinic I called said they would give me advice over the phone - to which they had no advice to give ("I think you have tried everything") - two others don't do labs on goldfish because of the expense involved, so I'm not...

    Tom's bumps/lumps

She is eating. She would eat more peas than pellets - but she always went crazy over peas. She's not pooping hardly at all though and when she does it's soooo thin - thinner than a thread. She swims around, but spends more time in the back of the tank than she ever has (near the filters and...

    Tom's bumps/lumps

My pH used to be low (6.5) for many months -- then for some reason my tap water pH went up (8.0 to 8.2). Bob said keep it under 8.0 -- which from what I am reading will not be easy with hard water.

    Tom's bumps/lumps

I heard from Bob right away - less than an hour after emailing him! :) He said it might be glugea or could be the high pH or genetics, etc. He suggested I work on the water quality (lowering pH and keeping nitrates under 20ppm) and wait and see. He suggested stopping all meds. I don't even know...

    Tom's bumps/lumps

How do I contact Bob? It does actually sound like the second disease you mentioned - which is horrifying! I feel horrible for keeping Tom with Francisco now!! He shows no signs - maybe he will be okay?? :(

    Tom's bumps/lumps

This has gotten kind of gross. I thought we were making progress with the salt and MG, but this morning Tom had another two bumps. (Did a 50% wc last night but the ammonia and nitrites were 0 and the nitrates were 40ppm before the wc.) The bumps: One got huge - biggest one so far - throughout...

    Cleaning rocks?

I have a few granite rocks from my backyard that I want to add to my tank (eventually to hold down a few real plants). How would you clean them? Just a good scrub under tap water? Bleach/water mix and rinse? Vinegar? Soak them (if yes, how long?)? Thanks!

    Tom's bumps/lumps

I did another wc - can't seem to keep the nitrates down (typically, before all this medication I would see 20ppm nitrates at the most before a weekly wc!! So this stresses me out a bit) and again it's questionable if ammonia is present or not. I added the salt back in, Tom seems improved today...

AqualClear vs. Tetra vs. Marineland HOB Filters

Ok. I wasn't aware - mine just said Fluval AquaClear --- probably no difference in actual machine if they are the same company. Thanks for clearing that up for me. (I guess they were referring to another Fluval filter then.)

AqualClear vs. Tetra vs. Marineland HOB Filters

Ahhhhhh... I have the Fluval AquaClear then... And it's silent and I love it. Lol http://m.petsmart.com/mt/www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=17228016

AqualClear vs. Tetra vs. Marineland HOB Filters

Am I missing something? Fluval is an AquaClear. I have a Fluval AquaClear.

AqualClear vs. Tetra vs. Marineland HOB Filters

I think the noise level on the marineland varies by size because the water is passing over the biowheel, the larger the biowheel, the more sound it seems to make. I have the 200 and the 150 (on two different tanks) - the 150 is silent. The 200 (this is my second 200) is on the same tank as my AC...
