Yea you are correct. Ammonia spiked. It is close to 0.5 today. I did a water change immediately. I cant believe this happened after an year. It was pretty stable though. I don't know how long it is going to be this time. I had a tough time cycling my tank :banghead:.

Thanks for the reply. Yea it was almost falling apart and not filtering properly. No it is not near window. I switch on lights only for 6-7 hours. I don't know why it still green.

I've a 10G planted tank with platy and tetra. I've some live plants as well. My tank used to crystal clear. 2 Months back i changed filter cartridge(after running for 8 months.). When i installed new cartridge, I just squeezed off old filter cartridge inside tank and behind new filter...

Some strange brownish red thing(algae i guess) is growing in my tank. Please see the pictures. how can i get rid of this? Its new tank....which was set up 2 months back. Morning when i tested it had 0 ammonia and 5 ppm nitrate. Please help. Thanks.

My 10G tank is running from the past 6 weeks. I believer its at the end of cycling. I'm still monitoring for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I currently have 2 sunset fire platy 2 black molly Can i add any more fishes? I don't want to add Gourami / neon tetras/guppy or betta. That cuts down...

i'm back with issues... i added seeded filter media from LFS...3 days ammonia reduced and nitrate started raising. After that things went back.... ammonia started raising....did water changes...didn't see nitrate after that. Something wrong. not able to figure out.

LOL...i see nitrates too..but no nitrite and ammo wont reduce :)

How long should i run my tank before even thinking of water change? is 29 enough for chichlid? i was told minimum 40...

yup i did that. dropped the one in the filter in the tank. I want one mature filter media to be ready for my next tank. Wanna start a chichlid tank soon. :)

Its actual filter cartridge (the white bag whichever we slide in) and yes it'll fit. Its actually pretty long. Only 75% will fit, rest will be outside water. Should i put it in my filter?
