    Decora Goby and Coral Goby

50gal nano. I already have a Decora Goby, was just wondering about adding a green or yellow coral goby. I'm aware of the issues that can arise from having two gobies in the same tank but have read some conflicting reports and am interested to hear the thoughts on here. Lots of rock also...

Low light dense foliage plant suggestions....

Hi all, I'm looking for some suggestions on a low light plant with dense foliage to fill some spaces at the back of my tank. I have recently tried Wisteria but the leaves have died off over a 2-3 week period, with the only growth at the very top. It's sending out roots from the lower stem...

    Working out lumens and watts

Hi B. Thanks for your input. Unfortunately I have made a classic beginner mistake and listened to my lfs without really looking deeper into it myself. I have planted all low light plants as this was the route I wanted to take and, so far, things are going Ok. My reason for this thread was to...

    In need of moral support!

Still a newbie myself! I have to say that research is key. This forum is particularly helpful. My plants are doing ok, my tank isn't as lush as I want but for me it's the challenge of getting it where I want it to be that brings the enjoyment. Also knowing that my swimmers are enjoying a more...

    Working out lumens and watts

Ok..... I'm struggling to get my head around lumens/watts etc and was wondering if anyone could help. I have 2 banks of LED lights, each holding 36 bulbs with an individual lumen of 6. Therefore a total of 432lm. Surface area of tank is 288 square inches which equates to 1.5 lumen per square...

Will adding Female Platy help to reduce aggression in Swordtails?

So, in the learning process, I made the mistake of housing 2 male swordtails in my 20gal. Total of 2 male swordtails, 2 female swordtails and on male and one female platy. Male to male aggression really evident in the swordtails. I realise adding more females may help this but was wondering...

Liquid ferts and Carbon packet in filter

Thanks for all of the replies... My fish load currently stands at 4 swordtails, 2 platy and 2 Cory. Plants; 2 java fern, 1 anubius nana, 3 valisneria, 2 Cryptocryne sp and the beginnings of a lilaeopsis "carpet". All of these should require the lower end of the light spectrum and have 2wpg...

Liquid ferts and Carbon packet in filter

Thanks for that. My main reason for liquid ferts is 2 java fern plants which are on driftwood, as is my anubius nana, therefore root tabs are useless for them..

Liquid ferts and Carbon packet in filter

Hi all I was just wondering your thoughts on liquid ferts and carbon in your filter? I have read several reports.... Some state to remove the carbon, others say it's ok to leave in.

    Plant ID

Thanks for the reply. Think I'll leave them for a while as they are not rotting etc yet. Got some great info from this site on good low light plants so my next trip to the lfs should be more successful.
