    Ordering corals online

I got a hanging kit for the light, was going to start with it a couple of feet over the tank and lower it over time, keeping an eye on everything and temp. I may just bite the bullet and order an LED, wish I'd read the thread on lighting before I ordered, the MH was kind of an impulse buy...

    Ordering corals online

I have tried moving it up high, but, they are mounted on a light plastic disk and my lawnmower blenny keeps knocking them down. So, right now, they are on the sand. I have a quad T5 with 156W on a 30 gallon. Which brings up another question I posted in the equipment section. I just got a...

    Ordering corals online

I thought I would try to order some corals online, so I ordered some zoa's, frogspawn, mushrooms and an orange sun polyp. They all seem okay, except one of the zoa's and orange sun polyp. They don't look dead really, but neither have opened and I received them four days ago. How much time...

    To much light?

I just got a new light it is a T5/MH with 346 Watts for a 30 gallon reef. Live stock is an oscellaris clown, lawnmower blenny, condy, flowerpot, candy cane and zoas. is that too much light? If so, can I replace the 250 W MH bulb with a 150 W. Had to go back to my quad T5 until I can figure...

    Coral ID

Thanks for the replies. Been out of the hobby for a number of years, this morning remembered I had a flowerpot before and it didn't do well. Hopefully, I will do better this time, I'm in a much better position to care for my tanks now.

    Coral ID

I was wondering if someone could ID this coral for me. Picked it up a lfs that had quite a selection of reasonably priced corals, but was less than helpful. Figured I could look it up, but can't seem to find it.

    Sick KOI!!!

Thanks for the replies, guess I will try to find some pics of costia for comparison and then see what course of action to take. (This is actually my inlaws pond and they're at a loss) Has anyone had any issues with well water (perhaps metals or such) and koi?

    Sick KOI!!!

We have lost 6 Koi...4 were babies. They start with Red blood spots and red streaks on them...then in some cases blot and float on the top of the water before dieing. They have been treated with pond salt and Pimafix and Melafix. Water changes have been made. We are on well water so there...

    Xenia turned bad

Should also add, don't know if it's relevant, we lost power for about 12 hrs during Rita. I did keep one power head running about 1/2 the time while the power was out.

    Xenia turned bad

I have a colony of xenia that all of the sudden has gone "limp". Don't really know how else to describe it. Have had it for about 4 months and has about doubled in size since I got it. A separate colony that floated off from the original is doing fine. So is everything else. I make water...

    Anybody know anything about snakes

Well I looked at www.texassnakes.net and it appears to be a buttermilk racer (never heard of it) which is non venomous so looks like he/she can hang around as long as it wants, really a cool looking snake.

    Anybody know anything about snakes

You think? I've never seen one like this before. We just moved and have a large pasture, with a large pond, right behind us so could just be a different variety than I'm used to seeing.

there's something in my tank.... PLEASE HELP!

Do you have any shrimp in the tank. My peppermint shrimp breed about once a month and I have a bunch of fry similar to what you describe and from what I can tell from the photo's. They're usually gone after a few hours, everything eats them, including the shrimp.
