I use najas grass in as many breeding and fry tank as possible. A must for livebearers and awesome for cherry shrimp.
A nice breeding set up for a bigginer would be any small livebearer, cherry shrimp najas grass, some val and anubus.
It has to be fun. There are so many was to enjoy this hobby or addiction.
I started off with one wild guppy tank because it reminded me of the time I spent with my dad catching them when I was a kid.
Now I have 12 tanks and love every minute of it. I have expensive fish and fish that I cant...
The cool thing about guppies is, you can do what you like.
You can get into breeding for shows.
Breeding your favorite type and just making them better.
You can mix and match a see what the fry look like.
I usually will have a purebred going.
While having a fun mix and match tank going...
Nice looking tank.
If your water tests out good I would keep doing what you are doing. I would do at least a 20% water change in a week or two. Its better to keep the water clean then wait for it to crash then try to fix it.
I like to do smaller frequent water changes to keep things constant.

Congratulations. Please keep us posted on how you are doing with those little guys. I have tried to get them before but around here they only sell the males.
What size tank are they in?
What are their tank mates?
Do you like to see how the parents care for their young or want the most fry to survive?
There is more then one way to do it. So let me know. I will try and help.
See about getting a micro worm culture and some fry starter food...
It could be aggressive behavior or it could be breeding attempts. Most african rift lake cichlids can hybridize with one another. To try to curb that is to get males that have differant colors and body types. Example blood red peacocks and soulosi or yellow labs.
