Suggestion on where to buy LR online...

Try www.saltycritter.com It's a small store in Ohio by me but their prices on Live Rock are excellent. I have some of their rock in my tank and it's great.

    The War against Cyano

Depending on how bad your Cyano problem is Chemi Clean might not work. I have put that stuff in my tank and it did'nt do a thing.

    Upgrading protein skimmer

Currently I have the Aqua C Remora HOT protein skimmer for my 75 gallon tank and it seems to work pretty good. I noticed that it is recommended up to a maximum tank size of 75 gallons. I seem to have a decent amount of algae growing around and I don't know if underskimming could be part of the...

    proper acclimation

I was planning on getting a bunch of Mexican red leg hermit crabs to deal with some of my algae issues and was wondering how you guys would recommend acclimating them. I've never bought crabs before and I'm not sure if they have special acclimation needs. Plus for a 75 gallon with quite a bit of...

    damn algae!!!

No the algae has been around a long time prior to that. I've tried pretty much every phosphate/algae removing device/additive out there and no real luck. It must be something I'm doing wrong! I'll going to try to feed them less at a time and see how that works. Thanks for all your advice!

    Cyano

Welcome to the red slime club! Test your water for phosphates. Are your lights on too long? Overfeeding? Overstocked? Are you doing your water changes? Are your bulbs old? Are you using either RO/DI water? Don't bother with the red slime killer additives for your tank, all they do is temporarily...

    damn algae!!!

No corals. My 10,000k bulb is only a month old. Yeah it is Red Slime. Good idea on the test kit, I've had this kit for over a year now and it might be time to replace. I pretty much have the same feeding routine as you. PO4 test are reading 0-.25 I'm not sure but it is somewhere in that range! I...

    damn algae!!!

my tank has been up and running for over a year now! My substrate is crushed coral. I have been getting the same results from my ammonia test for at least 9 months or so! I don't know if it is the test kits reading wrong or maybe it's reading right from possible over feeding? How much should I...

    damn algae!!!

I'm in the middle of a huge battle with red algae! I've changed alot of my evil ways with overfeeding, using tap water, leaving the lights on too long, doing more frequent water changes. I even added Chemi Clean and all it did was change my red algae into green. Now in my substrate it is going...

    algae changing colors

I'm feeding less and only once a day now. Tank lights are on 1 hour less a day. Using tap water filter, letting water sit 24 hours with heater and airstone/ air pump before adding for water changes. Finally broke down and bought PO4 test kit (why are they so expensive?) and the results were 0.25...
