So I ended up picking up a giant Deep Blue sponge filter. Highly recommended. This filter is almost 6 by 4 inches.

so i have a 55 gallon and im going to use it to breed guppies. it's going to be bare bottom with just java moss and naja grass.
The middle part of the upper frame broke so i cant buy the generic hood that comes with 2 separate folding glass pieces.
any ideas? I dont have skills for DIY btw...
Get a finnex light for your tanks, might need two. They're a little expensive but have great feedback. As for plants, I love water wisteria and water sprite, you just can't kill them.

I completely agree with you. But we're on the topic of helping a fellow hobbyist pick the right heater/wattage.

If you think about this logically, if your home's temperature is around 70, there's really no way for your tank to drop to 50 or escalate to 80. And heaters only turn on if the water only needs to be heated.
In the summer I usually turn off my heaters cause the water naturally goes to 78.

If we're thinking about the same LED light then check for the number LEDS. The double bright model has less LEDs but each individual bulb is bigger. Hope this info helps you.
Before you go and purchase a 250W heater, ask yourself if you need a heater that strong. You only need high wattage if the temperature outside the tank is drastically different from the temperature you want in the tank. I do not know the exact numbers off the top of my head but I think a 100W...
I'm thinking about getting an indoor guppy pond in the near future(something for the basement). I have some couple questions.
How come pond liners/pre-built ponds are black?
What type of lighting would you guys recommend? LED vs Fluorescent?
What type of plants?
Doesn't look like the mothers are squaring off yet. Use purigen as filter media and everything will be fine. Don't add chemicals if you're using purigen.
