well, I am trying again. I unplugged the heater all last night and plugged the old one in. this morning i unplugged the old one and plugged the new jager back in. it has been in the tank this whole time so it should be plenty adjusted. it is heating the tank back up... i'll see if it will stop.

I agree - wait to add the new fish. they will be ok in the smaller tank for a while. treat the bigger tank and get it clean of the ick before adding the new fish in there.

I think people are waiting to see your pic... which I do not see. not sure what the rust color appearing is, did you say how long you have had your fish? how long have you had your tank up and running?

Thanks for the info guys... I will work on my water changes. He was a transfer from a different tank so that may have been the problem. So just clean water should clear him up?

Lol you guys are great! I USED to use buckets, but quickly realized the benefits of a gravel vac. I still use my buckets for filter cleaning and always have one handy during water changes to drop the hose in at the start and end, but no... I use a hose to fill and empty. Best purchase ever!

I would say if you are returning the guys you have now why not go for the tetras (kind of an even swap) AND add the cories in there too. Add the otos last. they like the more established tank. Keep checking your tank and see what it does?
