Probably going to get it down to a 125, 75, 20, 20, and 29 gallon freshwater, a 29 and 40 gallon saltwater (one fowlr one reef), and then for reptiles:
a tortoise table
small custom room (for water monitor, I wouldn't mind insulating a small room)
116 quart sterilite bin (RTB)
5x2x2 custom...
Gotta find the hard drive that has all my old pics on it and I'll post 'em.
Seems like there's a lot of doubt with this collection, and I feel like I really need to bring it way down to like 2 or 3 freshwater tanks, 1 saltwater tank, and maybe a few reptile tanks and a rack at the most. Mostly...
I'm not sure of the type, they were more of an impulse buy. They lasted around 8 months. I pick up on things easily though so there shouldn't be too much trouble keeping them.
I used to have a few I bought from the LFS and they lasted a little while. That was a long time ago though, I think they were in something like a 90 gallon.
I'm going to remove a few tanks from the list here just to save space and money.
As of now the list is:
12 foot Intex pool FOWLR
40 breeder mantis shrimp tank
210 gallon octopus tank
29 BioCube reef
??? gallon shark tank (in office - nothing over 2,000 gallons its going to house smaller...
I feel like even with downsizing a bit and changing to bins, there's still just too many reptiles to correctly appreciate and care for. So, time to downsize - again! Here's a list:
-1 leopard tortoise
-1 spectacled caiman
-1 female green iguana
-1 spiny softshell turtle
-2 adult fire skinks...
Khua and ThatNewGuy were both in the right. They are really not hardy because if your water quality is even a little bit off they can die easily.
The only other bad thing about them is what khua said - you can't make that cool of a tank for them. I recommend a few live plants, some marimo...
Yeah, no problem!
With the BioCubes (and things like them) for saltwater you generally want to upgrade some of the things, adding a heater and replacing the filtration and lighting usually comes first and then you can do whatever else your budget allows afterwards.
Since you want to keep a...
You might be able to get away with that stock list, to be safe I would get rid of either the clown, the royal gramma, or both of the other fish. You could certainly do this with heavy filtration and somewhat frequent water changes but if you're a beginner that's not recommended. If you want to...
No problem. Clove oil is a form of anesthesia for fish, amphibians, and most aquatic invertebrates. If you dose high enough, it's pretty much the best way to euthanize anything you keep in an aquarium.
So sad :(
That's very good that you went through all of that to save her, most people would've just given up. Like TMRC said, practically straight alcoho like vodka is considered humane, not so sure about ice water though.
Sorry for your loss :(
