    supplements...

heh, ok, what about Live Phytoplankton? 4 oz. every other day. I'm adding that to feed them as well. whatever i'm doing, it's helping them somewhat...very nice looking well-fed corals in my opinion. (the placebo effet :P ) I looked for calcium, iodine, and strontium test kits, and did not...

    guppy fry as live food

I had 6 guppies (3 couples) when I cycled my tank with a betta, and the betta ate the fry. Definitely was not enough food to fill him up. I added some Black Tetras a week or so later, and I never saw any fry after that...although the guppies continued to reproduce (until they were ultimately...

    supplements...

Just want to make sure I'm not overdoing anything. I am adding Kent brand Iodine, Strontium, Liquid Calcium and Essentials Elements. I have a 20g tank, and the measurements on the back are for 50g (or 55g, don't have a bottle handy), so I'm essentially halving the doses of them. I'm adding...

    salt fever...

French Angel, that eats like 30% of the corals he has....plus it's recommended for no less than a 100g, and he has a 75g. He wants to set up a fish-only swimming tank for large fish like angels, butterflies, etc.. Guess he's gung ho on it, and is going ahead... At least he'll be able to keep...

    French Angel reef safe?

well, thanks for the advice...yes after further investigation, most angels (even dwarfs) will eat about 30% of the corals he has in there....he has nipped zooanthids, a finger leather, and 2 out of 3 colts... He is now contemplating setting up a 180 gallon, fish only for angels, groupers...

    salt fever...

you and me both...my 20g salt is almost twice as much as my 65g fresh... On top of everything he's only had his 75g reef tank for a month! I say trade that angel in and relax....if he still feels that way after another month, then go for it....

    salt fever...

so I'm upset...my good friend/mentor of fish keeping, has come down with "salt fever"... The obsessed need to tear down a beautiful 180 gallon brackish tank that he's had for 4 years, and set it up as a saltwater tank. We both have a freshwater/"brackish" tank, and a saltwater/reef tank, and...

    Oscar Killing for Fun?

I am having the same issue with my scats now. I bought too many feeders for my Datnoid. First off, they were supposed to be guppies, but they gave me Rosy Reds instead. My red scats are killing them just to kill them...then obviously the datnoid does not want them. I'm pulling out 1-3 daily...

My list of issues...see if you can help

I add a few ice cubes to the water to cool it down if my stick-on thermometer is pegged (it only goes to 82°).

    Target Mandarin

well, he's now "tame"... eats frozen brine and mysis, and begs at the glass All it took was one feeding of live brine, and now he eats frozen every day with the rest of his tank mates :) woot!

    French Angel reef safe?

Posting this for a friend of mine without net access. He recently bought a french angel, and he's sizing up some of the stars, and xenias, but has not actually nipped anything. My research on this is conflicting, some says they're ok, some say not recommended. Are angels in general reef...

Cichlids hurting my corys - Help!

heh...put a net in the water and go after one...you'll see how fast they can be...lol :) I gave mine away when I got my loaches and it took quite a while to catch both. Anyway, I have also heard that cichlids need to be kept with similar sized aggressive fish, and will attack smaller, or...

    looking for a 20 gallon

    that's retail price...just saying a whole new tank adds up.. tank - $30 glass top - $32 hood - $30 bulb - $20 heater - $20 thermometer - $2 air pump - $15 air stone - $7 airline tubing - $3 + sales tax And I certainly didn't get "ripped" as I've enjoyed it every day since I set it up :D

    looking for a 20 gallon

shrug....I just bought one two months ago, and everything, all said and done, was $172. No stand, filter or gravel either...just the tank, glass top, 24" flourescent light, air pump, airstone, stick-on-termometer, and heater.
