Well I have 5 convicts in my tank 2 females, out of the 5 I bought...but I have had them for around 3 months and no fry....there must be something wrong with my water....They do a lot of digging, and I know the 2 couples have paired off, but no eggs what so ever
Is there anyway I can get my convicts to start eating live food, or do they not usually do that?
If they do eat live food, which fish would be good to use?
Has anyone ever had a problem keeping them together? I have about 5 convicts, and 1 small (2 1/2 inch) pelco in my 29 gal tank. I woke up this morning and saw he was all tore apart, it's really bad, but he is still alive. The only other fish I have in the tank are 5 black fin tetras and I'm sure...

I was actually quite suprised how the convicts responded to the black skirt tetra's. They haven't bothered them a bit. The black skirt tetra's skirt...
Jaybird-
I was wondering what your water conditions were like? I just bought 3 convict cichlids, on Tuesday and was curious how long it took them to spawn, and any other helpful tips you had?
Hi Everyone-
I was hoping one of you could help me identify one of my 3 convict cichlids. I think I have 2 males and 1 female, although I asked for 2 females and a male, but the guy at the LFS wasn't to sure, and to be honest niether am I. So, I took some photos (not the best) of her(hopefully...
I appreciate the thought :)
So there really isn't anything I can look for in the younger females and males then? When is about the appropriate time they start breeding around 1.5in?
