I typically breeding a few species out side in the summer in container ponds. I have a 4ft long 55gal tub left unstocked while it grows some plant cover, algae, and daphnia. It has a river sand base and lots of good hiding places for fry. My water is harder but will soften up with all the...
Where did you get hairgrass seeds? You you know if they are actually dwarf hairgrass or something else?
I personally would let in grow in a bit more but if you have good lighting and co2 it will grow just about the same either way.
I used to do that when I lived in South Florida and they always had great stuff. Now I live hours from an actual landscaping place I could get rocks at.
I drew up a mock area the size of the base of the chi to get an idea of the size of cave I wanted. I am hoping with glue I can get a much more rounded shape than I can just stack
I am hoping to mound up the substrate over the back of the cave and grow some sort of carpet over the top of it...
I snagged a Fluval Chi off Facebook because the filter and light are broken. I haven’t had a nano aquarium in 15yrs and this is going to go on my desk since I work from home. I almost ordered a couple hundred dollars worth of stone, plants, and lights but that takes a lot of the fun out of it...
I drive across town and fill up a bunch of 5 gallon water jugs from my parents house who have regular water. It works but its a pain. Luckily im highly planted and low stocked on my tanks and i dont have to do it too often. I was just curious if i am wasting my time transporting water back to...
Dont know if any one on here will be able to help with this, but ill give it a shot. The house im renting has terrible well water. It leaves rust stains on everything it touches shower, toilet, sink, you name it. I have been curious though about using it in an aquarium. I tested it when i moved...
It just occurred to me that since they have been stuffing them selves on solely blood worms while i was gone. And my perches are pigs. That maybe they are constipated from all that protein. I recall that peas are a good laxatives for fish. I just don't know how i would get them to eat it. Sound...
I have been on vacation for the last 10 days i got home last night, checked my tanks, and everything seemed normal. I had a friend feeding the fish frozen blood worms while i was away every other day. I gave the fish a cube of blood worms last night before i went to bed and when I woke up this...
hah one of my lfs is pretty bad. They always have dead fish in the tanks and they scoop them out and leave them in the sink which is in the middle of the store you walk in and there are 10+ dead fish in a sink(im sure you can imagine the smell). The worst part is the employees clearly can not...
Petstores will never stop selling bettas and goldfish. Its the people who don't know better usually who take fish home and keep them in a little bowl. I don't know of any Betta breaders in south florida close enough to drive to. There are some ones I hear are nice and breed quality bettas...
I am just going to look around for a while. My betta who died of old age I got as a gift from my sister and he was my favorite fish just because of his personality.
