    Tankmates for Severums?

My JD's eat lettice all the time, and I have been told they will eat your plants too. I have no personal experience with them eating aquarium plants, because what I have read and been told is that they will just make for an expensive snack. However, I have not seen them eat aquarium plants.

Help with chiclid fry and breeding in general

I have been raising Jack Dempsey's. Usually I can get rid of the fry at my LFS, but if I start getting overrun with fry I use them as feeders. If you use something to get the fry out of the tank, you can then put them back in and the parents will not recognize them and eat them. Another...

Dwarf Cichlids Help stocking a 150gallon

bs6749, in your reply you said to use bare bottom aquariums. However, you said that your rams lay frequently in pits in the substrate. How can they lay in the substrate if the tank is bare bottomed. Just curious what you were talking about.

Dwarf Cichlids Help stocking a 150gallon

I have been reading a fair amount and have not found ANYTHING about a bare bottom tank. Everything I've read says use sand, fine gravel, or for a few species use leaves. I have found conflicting articles about wether dwarf cichlids can breed in community tanks. I raised lots of livebearers and...

Dwarf Cichlids Help stocking a 150gallon

I don't want any plecos because they will eat the cichlid eggs after the lights go out in the tank.

Dwarf Cichlids Help stocking a 150gallon

I want it to have lots of colorful fish in the tank. Also, I want the tank to look like their real habitat.

Dwarf Cichlids Help stocking a 150gallon

I am already familiar with Large Cichlids, and currently have a breeding pair of Jack Dempsey's in a 75gal. I love the care that they take with their fry, and their personalities. I had been doing some research and all of the other SA/CA cichlids I really wanted would really have to be in...

    Breeding

In my opinion you are too overstocked in your 55. I have been breeding JD's for a little while, and currently have a batch of fry that have been free swimming for 3 days. My pair is in a 75, by themselves, and when my female doesn't want to breed EVERY month or two like the male does, she...
