Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

Heh, I suppose that work work... What I always have trouble with with a bucket, though, is when I pour it into the tank the current is too strong and is disrupts the gravel. How do you avoid that?

Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

Okay, thanks - so that can tube water from the faucet to the Aquarium as well? (It appears like it can, just want to make sure)

Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

@Brian_Nano12g: That looks good, but the reason I would go with a Python is so I could get water from the faucet directly to the aquarium. Is there another product I could use, just acting as a hose for that kind of thing?

Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

Alright, I've decided I'll go ahead and buy the Python water changing system - hauling buckets back and forth was getting old, any way... Although, does anyone know where I can buy one online? I can't seem to find it on Big Al's, Fosters and Smith or Amazon.

    Brown dust in aquarium?

So will having the lights on less make them go away? I also read they're caused by silicates in the water, but I'm not really sure how to fix that. Edit: Also, if I were to take all of the gravel out, rinse it out, and put it back in to get rid of all the current dust, would that hurt the...

    Brown dust in aquarium?

Lights are on 13-14 hours a day, feeding is about two pinches of food twice a day, and water changes are weekly (10 gal tank, by the way).

    Brown dust in aquarium?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if someone could identify this brown dust in my aquarium, and give me some advice on how to remove it? I have had traces it since this aquarium has been up (~1 year), but it is especially visible now that the tank has been cleaned up. It doesn't seem to be harming...

Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

Hi kjwcpm, Yes, I have around a 3-4 foot drop from the siphon to the bucket. However, yours seems a little more complex - mine doesn't have a check valve. The siphon itself is just a wide plastic tube, connected to a "hose" that goes into a bucket. I'm curious, though - do most people not use...

Electric/battery operated aquarium siphon for 10gal tank?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a battery-operated siphon for my 10 gallon fish tank. My current siphon is a "manual", where you have to pump up and down to create friction to pump the water out. I find this to be very ineffective for actually getting debris out as it usually just creates a dust...

    Detritus and bright green algea

Hi everyone, two questions/issues: 1. I have a layer of brown "dust" algea under my gravel which I assume to be Detritus. Is this normal? How do I get rid of it? 2. There's also bright green specs of algea on my rocks. It's very minor, but I haven't heard of bright green algea before. What is...

Ok, thanks for the info. In addition to Excel, does anyone have experience with Searchem's Flourite vs. Aquasoil? Substrate for Freshwater Planted Aquariums: Seachem Flourite Planted Aquarium Substrate

Difference between Flourish and ADA Soil?

Hi everyone, is there a significant difference between plant growth in ADA Aquasoil (Amazonia, etc) and Flourish? Any experience with the two? Thanks, -Josh

Would this work as a tank for guppy fry?

I was thinking of using this Acrylic Fish Bagger for a fry tank. It seems like a reasonable size, and I could actually hang it in my 10gal and skip buying another heater. Would this work? The only dilema would be a filter, but I think I could use a sponge filter. If not, any tank/setup...

I could go up to a 20 gal, but I was hoping for a fairly small tank.

What fish would be happy in this enviorment?

Hi all, I'm planning on doing as aquascape with an abundance of rocks, plants, mineral-heavy sand and a small wave maker with CO2. The tank itself would be about 5-10 gallons (For this reason, the water wouldn't move very fast.) Anyway, my question is: Any suggestions of fish would be happy in...
