    Bad setup?

Gecko is right. To add, if a 45 is your max tank size and you don't want to add more rocks, I would suggest ditching the mbuna cichlids and just stick with peacocks. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Question on carbon:

Well, it is a huge environmental issue. But that's a different debate. I was just wondering if anyone knew whether 12C or 13C is better for water. No reason behind it, just curious. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Good question. This was actually posted on a Facebook group for the Boston area I follow a few months ago. I went back and found it for you. It should answer your question. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

A little peak at the lfs I go to

Yes it does! The beneficial bacteria in an aquarium multiply at an exponential rate when provided with a surplus of oxygen. Oxygen is always a good thing. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

A lot of these tanks are temporary homes.. Most of these fish are in the store for a week or two. On this forum we give advice for long term, at least for the most part. That is always something you have to take into consideration. It's done at the LFS where I'm from. The dude had a...

    Question on carbon:

I wouldn't go with coal because of the environmental risk. 14C is produced from fossil fuels and is detrimental to our atmosphere and our oceans. I can't imagine coal being beneficial for your aquarium. I never knew the carbon we use came from charcoal, that's pretty cool. Sent from my...

    Question on carbon:

Well, I am really just wondering exactly what type of carbon we are putting into our tanks. 12carbon is the most common form, with 13C being followed. However, 14C is extremely bad for the environment. When a company puts out carbon for filtration, it quickly gets labeled as either good...
