You could ask your lfs to order them for you to go along with their next shipment. My lfs does that for people.

I keep mine with ghost shrimp and nerite snails. I've also seen harlequin rasboras kept with bettas

You could do nerite snails. They won't eat your plants. They also don't reproduce in freshwater. If they lay eggs the eggs will just stay dormant in your tank.

You could do scissor tail rasboras

I thought about sticking the bags in my cup holders but they didn't fit

I guess what I'm really asking is how do you keep the bags from shaking? Usually I make someone come with me and hold the bags, but today that wasn't an option and it was a bit of a struggle.
