Critter cage is safe to use as an aquarium?

I use an old 30? gallon tank that USED to house my burmese python before it grew out of it as a water turtle enclosure. But the water is only filled halfway, I havent had any problems with it. But, I would never use it as a full on aquarium.

    I just realized .......

Gyration: they both have swords, its kind of a dead giveaway. :)

    Tetras

I started cycling my tank with neon tetras and didnt lose a single one. And they survived through disasterously high ammonia and nitrite levels. Maybe I got really lucky. If only I knew 2 months ago what I know now....

    Takin out the trash

all that junk also collects on the decorations that you have in the tank. I like to think of it as a good thing...as all that junk that was just sitting there is now making its way towards the filter, and it saves me the trouble of having to take them out of the tank and clean them off.

    overzealous black mollys

well I also have neons, danios and other fish that wont even consider going to the bottom and eating with the bottom dwellers. little snobs I tell you. If it was just the mollys and the bottom dwellers, thats what id do.

    I just realized .......

the bottom 2 fish are definately male swordtails... the swords are....well their swords. Not really, but its a good way to sex them. the top fish shas very strong female molly attributes...skinny 'legs' right before their rear fin, the narrow face. and the pouty lower lips.

    overzealous black mollys

The 2 black mollys I have are absolute pigs at feeding time. I drop a mixture of flake and bloodworm into the tank for the mid to top feeders and then drop a couple algae wafers, or shrimp pellets in the back of the tank for the bottom feeders at the same time. The black molly's will go after...

    29 gallon finally cycled...suggestions please

thanks for the advice all...really appreciate it. I kind of hate the idea of taking them simply because when I got them they had a bad case of ich, and the zebra danio was lifeless and now hes full of life. And on top of it, they went through a pretty harsh cycle and survived it. Another month...

    Nitrite problems

do you have the old filter running still? If you stuck a brand new filter/media in the tank and didnt keep the old one running while the new media matured, you lost a lot of valuable bacteria which would cause your tank to go through a mini cycle.

    Nitrite problems

I would go with a teaspoon mixed thoroughly with the added water once a week until levels have fallen off.

    Nitrite problems

I would try doing 20-30% water changes every other day and adding a couple teaspoons(depending on the size of the aquarium) of aquarium salt.

    Nitrite problems

how often/how much are you doing partial water changes? I assume its not cycling still. Do you have any missing fish? If theres a dead fish in there, that would cause the levels to increase until you got the fish out of there.

    29 gallon finally cycled...suggestions please

My glo-lites and neons school together, and then the danios kinda hop from group to group, they have no loyalties. I wonder if its because the neons and danios were the first fish I put in the tank when I started cycling (yes, I did a fish cycle under recommendations from the LFS :( ) so its...

    29 gallon finally cycled...suggestions please

so my 29 gallon is fully cycled, and fully stocked. Here is what I have: 1 plecotonomus 2 ottos 2 black mollys 6 neon tetras 2 glo-lite tetras 1 zebra danio 1 long finned danio 2 upside down catfish 1 red swordtail is this pushing the limits of the tank? I know that the pleco is quite capable...
