How long have you had this tank running?
Are you familiar with the nitrogen cycle of aquariums?
I wouldn't add any more fish to this tank as you are quite poorly stocked.

My 21month old loves it when my golden CAE are suckered to the glass. He has to run over and put his mouth on the glass like the CAE. Lol. Too cute.

Don't forget as fish grow their bio load increases.
Bigger fish = bigger poop to deal with.
Your BB populate to the bioload of the tank. You could just be experiencing the bb catching up with fish growth.

Just wanted to share that I've just been almost 4 weeks between PWC.
I've been constantly monitoring my levels Amm trite trate pH and phosphates and using test strips for KH GH.
My nitrate went from 10ppm to a MASSIVE 20ppm during that time lol. Phosphates went from 1ppm down to 0.5ppm

My tank is just natural. I very rarely vacuum anywhere.
Siphon out water from about halfway down in the tank, trim anything that I feel needs it and refill.
I've done this since the tank became planted.

The blue background I used to have also reverses with black.
I've been quite liking the no background lately.
Once Xmas is here and I get my root tabs and Co2 refills I might see how much better everything grows then contemplate a background.
