    Help identifying new algae

Hi all, A few weeks ago I replaced canister filters (Fluval fx6 to Fluval 407) in my 75 gallon tank and got a new light (Finnex planted+ to Fluval 3.0). Now I'm getting a new type of algae i've never seen before - see the pictures below. Can anyone identify the algae? If you know what kind of...

Returning fish to LFS - what do they do with them?

I'm thinking of converting my tank from a general community to a discus tank. This would require me to return a number of adult fish to my LFS, who typically have no problem taking them. Assuming the fish look healthy, what do LFSs typically do with returned fish? I'm worried that due to fear...

DIY Help - plastic backstrip on glass aquarium cover

I just received a glass cover for my 75 gallon tank. It was missing one of the plastic strips you attach on the back of the cover (the one that allows you to cut out shapes to fit your filter intake, etc.), and for various reasons I can't return it or get a replacement. Does anyone have any...

Boesemani Rainbow missing scales - Injured or sick?

Thanks very much Colin and Andy. I unfortunately don't have a second tank to isolate it. I will try the salt and see if that improves anything.

Boesemani Rainbow missing scales - Injured or sick?

I have an adult male bosemani rainbow that has missing scales around one of its gills, almost like they've been scraped off. You can see it clearly in the picture below. Can anyone tell me if this is an injury or a disease? Here is some more info: It has been this way for a few weeks. I keep...

Get rid of tank or put it in very sunny location?

So I moved the tank on Saturday. It was quite a production. I'm glad I did it, though. We will see how the sun impacts it. Thanks everyone for your advice and ideas.

Get rid of tank or put it in very sunny location?

I understand your point, but it is not that black or white. I want to keep it but I also don't want my fish to suffer if the sunlight is going to have negative effects on the tank.

Get rid of tank or put it in very sunny location?

I had to get rid of my nerites because they were laying eggs all over the place. They never hatched, but i hated the look. I do have a chinese algae eater.

Get rid of tank or put it in very sunny location?

Could some liquid CO2 equivalent work? It is the front of the tank that will be getting the most light, so can't cover it up.

Get rid of tank or put it in very sunny location?

I have a 75 Gallon freshwater tank. It needs to be moved from where it currently sits (there is no avoiding this). I can either move the tank next to a large wall of windows (which will and cannot be covered) where it will get a lot of direct sunlight, or just get rid of the tank entirely...

My current stocking on 75 Gallon - what do you think?

I just saw them in person for the first time. They are super tiny, you weren't kidding.

My current stocking on 75 Gallon - what do you think?

I appreciate the input. I didn't realize threadfins were so small. I was trying to decide between threadfins and Boeseman/Turqois Rainbows. if I were to get a small group of threadfin (10) how many of the other Rainbowfish do you think the tank would handle?

My current stocking on 75 Gallon - what do you think?

I like this plan, though that seems like a lot of rainbows!

My current stocking on 75 Gallon - what do you think?

Even with a spray bar I thought the current was a bit too much for the fish. But I could be wrong, they could have just been adapting.
