My Water is Definitely Clearing...But is There Such a Thing as Too Much Oxygen?

Well, I've been having the cloudy water issue, too. So after reading this last night I unplugged my air pump and this morning the water was crystal clear. Nice! :p

    The Lone Danio

I'd add some more to keep him company. Could you add more filtration to the tank? IMO as long as your fish are healthy and the water quality is good adding a few more danios will not push the tank over the edge. They're little.

    Flashing/Scraping that is not parasitic?

Hmm... Well, there is definately none of that on any of the fish. I think I'd notice orange velvet, lol. The scraping seems to have cut way down, I think I'll just treat with Coppersafe for another week or so. Hopefully if it is a mild case of ich or velvet that will take care of it. Thanks...

    Flashing/Scraping that is not parasitic?

The temp is 78f. I've been treating with Coppersafe for almost 2 weeks now, just to be on the safe side. They have slowed on the flashing and scraping, but it's still happening. I'm thinking it *may* be velvet. I've got one giant danio who is looking slightly dull on his back - the weird thing...

    Flashing/Scraping that is not parasitic?

I have a few tiger barbs who have been flashing and scraping for a few weeks now. There are no signs of parasitic infection, no ich spots or velvet, no fast gill movements, they're eating just fine, water paramaters are perfect (ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 10ish). Just to be safe I started...

Experience with API Copper Test Kit???

I just got an API Copper Test because I'm treating for what I believe to be velvet with Coppersafe and I want to monitor my copper levels while doing so. The test says it measures both chelated and free copper, so it should be working but I know that the water has more copper in it than the...

    Upgrading Filter Question

Thanks, guys. Now I won't have to worry so much. As for the overfeeding, I don't think that I am. I have 3 giant danio, 4 tiger barbs, 4 corys, and one dwarf gourami. I feed them flake food twice a day, every few days I'll add an algae wafer for them to snack on, and once a day I feed blood...

    Upgrading Filter Question

Hey all, I have a 29 gal that I was filtering with 20-40 gal power filter. The water always seemed to be cloudy and filled with little particles, so I decided that I should upgrade my filter. Tonight I put in a 30-60 gal power filter. I was able to use the sponge material and filter cartridge...

    Can I add more fish?

The danios I'm thinking you're right, HN1. When I got them I was stupid and went off of the card at Petsmart that said the giant danios only needed 20 + gallons. Last night I did some research and learned that they would be happier in a bigger tank. I really like them, they're very energetic...

    Can I add more fish?

Hey all. I've got a 29 gal. tank. In the tank now, I've got 5 giant danio and 4 emerald green cory cats. I love my fish, they're super active and always doing something, but I was wondering if I could add a few more fish to the tank without severely over-crowding them. I was thinking maybe a...

    Tank will never cycle?

+1 for Marconis. Bio-Spira is now Tetra Safe Start and I was stuck in the nitrite phase of a fishless cycle for 6 weeks. I got fed up, did a huge PWC, added fish and a bottle of Safe Start and within 2 days my cycle was complete. I'd give it a try, it can't hurt.

    Tetra safe start

I just used it on a half-cycled tank and within 2 days the cycle was complete. I was really impressed, especially since I had been stuck in a stalled cycle for about 6 weeks... I added it on the same day that I added fish and it seemed to work like a charm. The smaller bottle treats up to 30...

    I'm a quitter.

Update: It would appear that in less than a week my tank has finished its cycle. I added the fish last Weds. and last night and this morning the readings for ammonia and nitrites were at 0ppm with nitrates around 10ppm.

    I'm a quitter.

I've got a 29 gal. that is half cycled. Before I added the fish it was processing 4ppm ammonia in about 15 hours, so ammonia is no problem. It has been at 0ppm since I added the fish. The nitrite level is hovering around 0.5ppm right now, I'm going to go a PWC in a little while to lower it...

    I'm a quitter.

So, after sitting in the nitrite phase of a fishless cycle for about 6 weeks, I did a huge water change and got fish. I couldn't take it anymore. They seem to be doing well so far. I'll just have to monitor the nitrite levels and hope that the tank eventually cycles. What is a safe number...
