WAR against algea: UPDATE! Update: This tank is doing much, much better! I corrected several things, other than the photoperiod, upped the CO2, thanks to a drop checker telling me the real story. I dont test so much anymore, just got to a point where I know what I've got to dose...

I just changed mine, after 2 years (4 x 96W, ouch$$). I changed only half of them at first, to watch them side by side, man, what a difference!!! The new ones were so bright you hardly can stand looking at them!

Wow, thanks! Just for the heck of it, I just tested my tank's KH with two testkits of the same brand (in this case Hagen), one gives me 50ppm the other 70ppm, which goes to say, these test kits are really not serious at all. That's why I dont want to mess around with this anymore...

Tom thanks for taking some time to share your ideas with us here. Rkilling1, where did you get your lab certified KH solution? I have read about how to make your own, but that seems to be awful complicated.

Interesting thread... My KH keeps going down all the time (dropping approx. 20ppm per 2 weeks) Doing EI and weekly water change. So I add baking soda to get it back up there, otherwise my pH would keep going down below 6,0 with the CO2 injection... and then I would have to keep readjusting the...
