Males have a more pointed anal fin and females have a more fan like fin.

I have mine with cories and neons. All depends on individual betta personality. Mine is more curious than aggressive.

I don't think you'll have a problem with the shark or catfish. Bichirs get labelled aggressive but I almost think they are just predatory and maybe grumpy at worst. I have a juvie bichir with a rainbow shark, spotted Raphael catfish and some tiger barbs and everyone is fine. The bichir doesn't...

Mine does that too but he's also still fairly young. I've looked it up before and read varying opinions between 'it's fine' and 'it may be a sign of something else' but if your water checks out, and with the diet your feeding him, he should be one happy little guy doin happy little things.

From my experience places like petsmart and petco have smaller foreground and mid ground plants, almost always unhealthy and needing tlc. I just went by my small lfs right after a plant shipment and they had gorgeous healthy large background plants mostly. The lfs was like 75% cheaper, too. I...

Mine sprouted new leaves rather quickly 2-3 days after planting, and the roots take quickly as well.

I too would be interested for the same reason. Mine was labeled congensis anubias but it looked a little small compared to pictures.
