I just upgraded to a 20g community from 2 smaller tanks. I have a 40l hospital/quarantine tank running and have a 60l tank that I intend on stocking with slightly more advanced/non-entry level fish. Would love some suggestions on what might be suitable in this tank...I'm thinking a pair of...
They are still so small...just over 1cm but I was assuming if they couldn't be eaten they wouldn't be killed, newbie error. I figure if I raise even 1 to adulthood out of this brood then I have a wee free home-bred guppy. I just never thought that guppies would be predatory like that...I swear...
Just as a note for comparison and experience from folks who know....
I released my 5 week old fry from a breeder net on Sunday and was delighted to see them stretching their wee fins for the first big swim...3/6 were promptly picked off by big bad momma, they were too large to eat so she just...
For newbies (like me) searching on this thread....from newly learned experience...absolutely DO NOT cease siphoning gravel at any time, especially when you have fry...my water was testing out fine until I braved stirring up what was lurking in my gravel and I then had a serious nitrate...
Managed to rescue six, she dropped in the early hours and I awoke to see a tiny wee bub swimming at the glass, right on time to catch momma gobbling it up! Caught her in a breeder net and put some foliage in there as I don't have a breeder tank (as such) and that's what I ended up with, they...
My Guppy fry (6 of) are 4 weeks old on Sunday and look to be strong little swimmers and I intend on letting them into the main tank with 2 female and a male guppy within the next week, but I'm worried they'll be sucked into the pump - it's a 55l with an appropriately sized pump, so am I just...
Looking for suggestions for a small community algae eater for my 55l tank........had to rehome my sailfin plec after bad advice from my pet shop who said the little guy wouldn't outgrow the tank, yeah right.
Any thoughts? Thanks :)
Just thought I would post to say goodbye to my sailfin plec fondly known as Fugly who is being re-homed tomorrow. After 'advice' from my local pet shop I purchased my little algae eater and brought him home to my 40l tank where he grew from around one and a half inches to six inches in 4...
She doesn't have companions of her own kind, she's in with 3 swords and four neons, she's pretty big and I'm reluctant to put anything else into the tank as it's really at capacity. No doubt I need a bigger tank....maybe just another couple tanks, might trade in my man to make some space lol
I had my first batch of guppy fry three weeks ago today and managed to rescue 6 from their voracious baby eating momma who are now happily growing up in the breeder net within the main tank.
I have been testing the water as I haven't had the guts to do a PWC for fear of shocking the bubs and...
