I have a new 29gal planted tank that is cycled and ready for residents. What would you stock it with? I’ve always loved cardinal and neon tetras so I was thinking of a school of those but beyond that I’m up for suggestions. Also thinking of some nerite snails as well, maybe some shrimp but it...
Anyone know if the test kit expires? I have an old test kit and am getting ready to set up a new tank cycle, but as I’m spending a chunk on substrate and plants and such I’d prefer not to shell out anymore than I absolutely have to.
I got a top fin starter kit that was on sale. Not sure how that one compares. I still need to get the table I’m using for a stand from my parents house and set it up, so we’ll see this weekend. It is an LED light though.
Getting back into the hobby after a ~5 year hiatus. Just bought a new 29gal tank and have to figure out what I want to do with it. I want to do a planted tank, but at least for now, it will need to be low light as I’m working with the stock LED light it came with.
There are a few local stores...
I like the idea of pea puffers, but from what I’m reading they need at least a 10 gallon tank. What I have is listed as 5 gallons, which once you factor in substrate and decor is more like 4ish gallons. Thoughts?
I know it’s not super difficult to move a small tank, but it seems like more work than necessary. I just finished grad school and will be hopefully starting a new job soon (anyone know anyone looking for a PA in New Orleans?) and then moving once I have a paycheck, so adding one more thing to...
I recently acquired a Marineland ML90609 Portrait Aquarium Kit, 5-Gallon w/ Hidden Filter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O8SZTKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_EgbQCbMETX5YT and was curious as to if anyone has had one of these before and had success with plants in it. It’s been a few years since I’ve had...
I recently acquired a free 5 gal tank (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00O8SZTKQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IP.PCbPZV04SH) that I was thinking of moving my betta to, but thought I’d see if anyone had any other ideas. It’ll still likely be a few months before I do anything with it because I’ll be moving...
That's basically what he'll be in when I'm home. I have a large-ish one that i bought last time I was home and had to bring him. He's a little guy, supposedly a baby when I bought him back in the spring. Still decidedly smaller than most of what you see. He's not in a huge tank here tbh. Only 2...
I leave Friday to drive home for the holidays and it just dawned on me that I have to bring my betta with me, and I don't have the container I used last time (the little one he came in...it cracked).
Any suggestions on how to transport him? I'll be gone a month, or else I'd just leave him with...
Could I do a betta (possibly a juvenile...petco had ones labeled as "baby") and a few shrimp? I was debating between the filter it came with (Hagen marina i25) and a sponge bubble filter...I have an air pump and tubing I'd just need to get the bubble filter. Thoughts?
I just moved and left my more established tank back home, but I brought a small empty tank I had with me. And by small I mean itty bitty. It's 1.77 gal/6.7L. It has an internal filter that I can use once I get ahold of new cartridges.
First, it needs a good cleaning. I'm pretty sure when I...
Is anyone in the New Orleans area interested in two assassin snails? I had a pest snail problem a while back which they took care of quickly, but I really have no use for them now. They've killed a few of my nerves so I had to take them out of my main tank so they've just been chilling by...
What do I do to use the h2o2? Pulling everything in the tank would leave nothing and I can't afford to replace anything right now.
