I picked up some driftwood and at the recommendation of the pet shop owner, got some grape vine wood. Apparently this type is extremely effective at lowering ph... I was happy to see if my fish would adapt to the water at the current levels but if it works and its stable, that would be great :)...

Do you think I can make a complaint to my council that the pH in my water is too high and I want them to lower it so that I can have a more stable aquarium? If I write a strongly worded letter they may pay attention to me! ;)

My ph has be say steadily at above 8.... I guess I can try fish and see what happens.

And I can reduce tannins by cleaning and soaking the driftwood first or adding a carbon filter?

Glad I came back and read this before I went shopping tomorrow! Was going to go and buy a nice chunk of drift wood to stable my ph. Will look into bog wood now! I got a bit confused by all of the above... If I do choose to get some drift wood for decorative purposes, will that affect my water...

Apologies for my niavity, I am currently trying to balance my pH and I am curious as to how the driftwood would help :) Thanks in advance.

My partner and I have purchased a 70L set up! 3 weeks into our fishless cycle and looking for advice and assistance and ideas when it comes to set up and maintenance! I look forward to the wealth of knowledge!

Added a pH buffer.... Then read the pamphlet that said not to use the product with natural plants.... The lady at the pet store said it would be ok... Now I'm worried I need to start from scratch! I'm 3 weeks into my fishless cycle so crossing my fingers!
