    Platy Death - Water Change??

Thanks folks!! Do you think I should do a big water change or no? Platy was probably only deceased for a max 8 hours when I found him... I just don't want to shock the survivors. Sent from my VS980 4G using Aquarium Advice mobile app

    Platy Death - Water Change??

One of my platys died overnight. He was fine esterday night after a PWC (20%?) Treated water with Prime in the bucket before pouring gently in to tank. I just removed him and checked my parameters (below). I examined him and saw no visible signs of disease. My question is, should I...

    Ammonia

Yes, that's the reason for your new cycle... Try just swishing the filter media in tank water (in the bucket or whatever you use) when you're doing a water change... And don't put a new filter in by itself... Use part of the old filter with the good gunk (bb) on it. Sent from my VS980 4G...

    Ammonia

Are you changing out your filter media when you clean your tank? If so, there's no need and that could be why your tank is re-cycling. Filter media doesn't need to be replaced until it pretty much falling apart... And even then, don't throw the whole floss away. Keep some of that beneficial...

I don't know diddly about snails

Thanks, Oto! Question: If my pH is steadily at 8, do I need to supplement any calcium in any way? I get calcium deposits around the top of my tank at the water line, so I think I'm ok... But I want to do right by my new little snails. Sent from my VS980 4G using Aquarium Advice mobile app

I don't know diddly about snails

I just found another one... Here we go ? They're cleaning a lot of the algae off my rocks and anubias, which its awesome. I try to be careful not to overfeed , but I'm gone for work all week about once a month, and I think my fishsitters succumb to the begging behavior of my big old fantail...

I don't know diddly about snails

No spiral, so I'm going with your pond snail idea. And from what I just read online, I'll be working on population control pretty soon :) Thank you! Sent from my VS980 4G using Aquarium Advice mobile app

I don't know diddly about snails

Just curious - is this a mystery snail? I know nothing of snails. And are the little things on the leaf snail poo poo? I just noticed this little guy today... Stow away from some anubias I bought about 6 weeks ago. I have plenty of algae for him, as you can see. Thanks! Sent from my VS980 4G...

Determining How much Weight my floor can hold.

I asked this same question a while back, and it's hard to be 100% sure.. But my research basically told me a few useful things such as: it's preferable that the tank is on an exterior wall (these are load bearing walls, unlike interior walls that separate rooms), and perpendicular to your...

    Wild Plants?

Anchor worms, fish lice, leeches (the babies are super small... Eww) and even plain old snails... I know there are tons more parasites, but I'm only familiar with these. Sent from my VS980 4G using Aquarium Advice mobile app
