Loaches are HORRIBLE for that kind of thing. They'll lay deathly still, on their side no less, for long periods of time. I thought for sure mine was a goner the first time, went to net him and had to actually hit him with it before he moved. :roll:

Unfortunately, with all of the processing that vegetable powders endure, only to then be processed again into the fish foods, I'm not sure they do a whole lot of good. Better than fillers anyway.
Sea Veggies win my vote on the commercial level. 100% seaweed, various species or mixed. Seaweed...
They'll eat most anything, but a vegie-based flake would be best. Read the labels on those and wafers - they often say they're algae/veggie food when in actuality there is very little in it.
Some Cichlid foods are also good for snails as they contain a bit more calcium - more label reading...
I use those plastic carpet runners that you see in carpeted entries or lining stairs. I just use one, about halfway under the tank with the other half coming out in front of it to catch drips.

Funny how the locations vary. I've gotten to the point where I won't buy livestock from either BA's here. Other people think they're ok though - maybe its just the Livebearers. The staff have always been good here - very friendly & helpful. The prices are sky high here, but so are most...

I don't know if its what keeps mine clear or not, but I bleach between tanks and haven't had mildew. I have a sink of bleach water, suck it through into the other sink, then reverse it to rinse it out. Only takes a minute and it disinfects. A quick wipe with a dipped paper towel disinfects...
