At that price point, I'd go with canon. The Nikon entry-level line is crippled in that it does not have an internal focus motor which will not allow you to use many nice lenses. The rebels can use pretty much any Canon lens since 1990 or so. But if you want to get great closeup fish photos...

hey thanks for the tips. I'm not sure if I want to add more fish to the tank at the moment. I like giving my fish tons of room... :) I don't have another tank though and I don't have any room in my tiny house for another one. sigh... I guess I'll see how they all get along in the tank...
