    Algae?

It's a 5w led (500 lumen). I do have co2. It's just a budget setup. Tropica system 60 with disposable cannisters. Wanted to see if I could manage plants before investing in a serious injection system. The substrate is tropica plant growth. Fertilizer is tropica plant growth as well. Once a week...

    Algae?

It seems to be attached to any plant that's not moss, but yes, mostly concentrated directly under my light. I keep it on for about 5-6 hours a day. (Too long?) Im paranoid about my Monte Carlo carpeting staying healthy.

    Algae?

Cool, thanks. Glad to know it's not neglect on my part. This is a 10 gallon, heavily planted low-tech with one pea puffer, one amano, and one dwarf crayfish. Maybe i need more cleanup crew. I do water 50% water changes every two weeks. Thanks again for the advice!

    Algae?

Can anyone tell me what this stuff growing off of my java ferns is? Is there an animal that will eat it? Am I off balance somehow?

First planted tank, 3 months in.

Hello everybody, I just wanted to check in an show some before and after photos of my 10 gallon planted tank. I wanted to thank anyone who chimed in with advice during the stressful first couple weeks. I'm pretty pumped on this thing. So far, so good.

    Salad bar for amanos.

I read a lot on amano shrimp before I bought two for my 10 gallon planted tank. Common wisdom says they are excellent for planted tanks as they eat dead plant matter and are constantly foraging and cleaning up. Well, the two I got immediately started feasting on my nymphoides, leaving them full...

    Surface scum

So after about two weeks of cycling my planted tank, there is a scum that has formed on the water surface. I've researched causes and solutions and was wondering about investing in a surface skimmer. My current filter is an internal corner filter with it's intake near the bottom of the tank and...

    Rookie mistake

Thanks. I'm gonna put my dwarf puffer in there and some amano shrimp. Maybe an oto or two.

    Rookie mistake

So I spent 4-5 hours setting up and planting my 10 gallon. When it was about 3/4 full my large piece of driftwood floated up and ripped out a bunch of plants. It'll never be the same as I had originally intended. I had a meltdown. I found a good rock to weigh it down the next day and this pic...

New 10 gallon. First attempt at planted.

Awesome, thanks for all the tidbits. I'm going for a riverbed look. Though I would like a little carpeting. Here's a pic I googled for an example of what I have in mind:

New 10 gallon. First attempt at planted.

Hello, I'm planning a 10 gallon aquascape/planted tank. I bought the 10 gallon dennerle scaper's tank and have been collecting hardscape, equipment etc as money allows. The light that the tank came with is an led 5 watt, 6500 kelvin, 500 lumen (1270 lux in 40cm of water. The filter is a corner...
