- We started out with a 45 gallon corner tank that we set up in November 2008. We got a pair of convict ciclids and a pair of red tiger oscars. one of the convicts died after about a month we bought another convict and ended up with two males. then my husband chuck bought two females. the convicts started breeding and we had to remove the babies to keep peace in the tank. then we aquired another tank. we now have two freshwater tanks. one is an 80-gal. bowfront that houses the convict pairs and the oscars. in the 45-gal. tank we have about 60-75 small convicts that are different ages.
