A HOB is a filter that hangs off the back of the tank.
Is your filter is the little blueish thing with a little filter on the bottom and some carbon rock on the other side. has 2 suction cups on it?
hey everybody.
Couldn't reply to my old thread, guess it was too old.
didnt feel like writing out everything again, but heres a few pics of my tanks.
I havent posted in awhile. life....
Been non stop with these tanks, even got a few more.
I must have redone, rescaped, replanted, rehomed...
I'm pretty sure it's mechanical heat since all I did was add a extra big canister filter. The other one will be taken off once the FX6 builds up some good stuff. The tank is super clean and clear just freaked about the heat. The temp in the room is 76 and the ceilings are are low.

I just noticed my temp on my 125gal African cichlid tank is around 83-4 degrees. I just put on a new Fluval fx6 since my other canister filter that's on my tank wasn't up to the task. I keep my temp always around 80-1 on the tank with the old canister filter and the wet/dry sump filter. I'm...
The shark let me measure him, not 12in, right around 10in.
I have a 55 that shares the same filtered water as my 40b. I Emptied out the 55 and moved the shark and the ghost knife in there. I don't think he likes how little deep the 55gal is compared to the 40b
Well a lot of people are posting videos and thread about how they're mixed tanks work well. Balas with Africans and etc.
I have a 6 foot long tank, hence why I was seeing what people thought.
All the videos I see of balas working well with cichlids Its always when there's 3 or more.
I know how...
Okkkk my wife is gonna kill me but I found a 150 gallon that I can just use my filters and lights on. $125 and holds water.
I'd have to get rid of the 40b and maybe my tube tank. i dunno what I'm gonna do with all my smallish tropical fish in the tube tank though.
Firstworldproblems
Did you read the thread? I stated he's only in the 40b because his tank broke.
The jewel has been with the Habs and others for over 5 years with zero problems in the 125gal.
Oh I know how african cichlids can be. I've had them for over 8 years. I've had most of mine for atleast 5 years in this tank. What's funny is my jewel cichlid is the nicest one in my tank lol.
So might be doable if he had other bala Sharks with him.
Out of all the cichlids only 3 of them are aggressive in the tank but I understand what you're saying.
Might just have to sell my 75gal tube tank to fund a 150gal or so for this bala and ghost knife.
