- I recently upgraded from a 20gal to a 55gal (x-mas gift for my kid). When doing this I simply transferred all my fish to the new tank. Within about a 3wk time, we added about 7 new sea friends and about 2 wks later most of my fish had died off. I have since completely redone the entire tank, including cleaning everything and water changing, as there are fish that survived. I did the water test and the Ph was .3 higher than normal before i remodeled. I am currently attempting to cycle the tank to what I understand to be correct. I had no problems with the previous tank and it bothers me that alot of the fish that died came from the old tank....I dont know what went wrong.
