AMPHIPODS
Amphipods are little "bugs" you may see scurrying about your live rock - especially after lights out.
These little critters are beneficial scavengers and are very common. For more info... Amphipods
Would anyone by chance know what kind of copepod i have in my tanks i know i shoudl supply a picture but i dont have a camera that can get a clear up close picture... they look like mini versions of a mantis shrimp.. kinda long, skinny, crawling around my live rock and i've seen them move...
well i kinda had a spontaneous buy cuz i saw it for cheap.. at 40$.. but then did the some research and saw it was a pain to maintain.. relisted it on craigslist and am hoping to sell it back or make a trade for something different hopefully better.
any opinions on this skimmer?? also wouldnt this be kinda overkill for a 60gallon tank? i had picked up a Red Sea - Prizm Pro Deluxe Model for 40$ used... and its really loud... also later found out its kinda over kill for my tank as well.. so this guy is offering to trade me the one i put in...
when i bought a piece of live rock there was a couple of worm remenants.. and i didnt think anything would come of it. but after a few weeks i saw a few tube worms growing out of the rock.. i thought nothing of it and thought it actually looked nice and added some life to my tank.. but now...
is setting it up inside the sump more of just a space saver idea? or is there a real benefit to it? after doing a lot of research and talking to a bunch of different store owners i've come to this conclusion that i'm gonna eventually need both if i want to be successful with my tank.. i've...
cool deal i dont mind them and i dont see them picking on anyone else to the extent where they may be over stressed.. i also dont have an anenome yet since my tank is barely 4 months old... but they sure are protecting this one back corner now.. any chance that they might reproduce?
is it normal for a tomato clown fish to be super aggressive. i bought a pair of them about 2-3 inches in length and i have had these fish the longest of all fish in my tank. when i clean the front glass with a sponge she rams my hand and tries to take a chunk out of it.. at first i...
it turned out to be the dreaded brown jelly disease =\ i got home and my hammerhead was completely gone and there was some brown slime where it was.. as for the frogspawn.. one of the 2 stalks had the brown stuff on it so i broke it off and threw it out but the other stalk appears to be ok...
i got a few frags for free when i purchased a recently upgrade light fixture.. and they are both dying.. i hate seeing something die so its frustrating me that they are failing.. it looks as if half of them were eaten away... what i have in my tank are 2 tomato clownfish 1 lawnmower blenny 1...
wow in due time i can only hope to have a tank that big!! mandarins i think are very pretty... but i am far from trying to attempt to take care of one.. as of now i'm just sticking with the easy to take care of hardy / resilient fish lol.. thanks for the info Dave66
thanks... will do =).. i've also heard that mandarin gobies are on the red list =\ and shouldnt be bought as well.. would you by chance know if this is true also?
thanks for the opinion and i do agree if something isnt made to live in a tank then it shoudlnt be kept... if we want to see them we should get a scuba set and go visit them in their natural enviroment... i didnt mean to step on anyone's toes as i didnt know that they were dying in masses...
