@Brian_Nano12g Im thinking about buying a Finnex Ray 2 for my 20 gal High Aqueon and ditching the old light fixture. Im glad to hear that it fits nicely with the existing hood. Do you think I should go with the 24" or do you think i could get by with a 16"? P.S. Love the tank and the thread!

What did you not like about the T5s... If I buy a fixture I was thinking about going that route.

It holds 1 18" T8 bulb. It's not clear on how much wattage but I think it is a 15 watt bulb.

I have a 20 gal high with a couple of live plants. For lighting im running the basic florescent setup that came with the tank, aquarium model 24RFH. would it be best to switch out the bulb to encourage plant growth or spend the 80-100 dollars to by a new fixtures?

Would you just syphon the rocks? Would this not get rid of the bacteria that's in the rocks?

I am about two weeks in to cycling a new 20 gal tank. I used media from my other tank to seed and for the amonia source i added in some fish food. I now have mold in between my rocks ( from the food). Is this ok to have during the cycling process or do I need to take action and remove it from...

Hey guys I'm wanting to setup a saltwater tank in my 20gal high. Can you guys give me a rundown of what I will absolutely need getting started?

Yeah I'm familiar with the cycling process. Just the saltwater set up would be new ro me, as this would be my first saltwater tank.

does anyone know how hard it will be to make this aquarium ready for saltwater?

I am thinking/wanting to do a small center piece of live rock but im still not sure on what fish i want in there. But the overal maintenance of the 6g isnt too bad?

Im considering getting a fluval edge 6 gal aquarium, i have found a good deal on one and i dont want to pass it up. but what are your guys thoughts on using it for salt water?

As a side note im down to 3 fish. 2 of the guppies are no longer with us. Ive also added a few more live plants.

Ive been doing pwc daily for the last 2 weeks and my parameters have constantly been reading what i tested earlier this morning: ammonia >.25 Nitrites > 5.0ppm Ive done back to back 50 pwc on a couple of days and the nitrites will bounce right back. Is this normal?
