You're right Paul. I remeasured, I was using my wife's sewing tape measure which has a messed up end so I started on the 1" mark and didn't subtract it from the measurement when I posted.

Just measured. 9 3/8" wide, 5" deep, which 3 1/2" is off the back of the tank.

At the time I'm using biomax. I have two trays of it (4 compartments). I've been thinking of replacing a tray with the plastic mesh pot scrubbies but haven't yet. The c4 has it's own small bio media and a pretty cool small trickle chamber.

I have a Fluval 406 & a c4 that I run on a 75 gal with lots of rock structures. I originally just had the 406 and recently added the c4 due to flow/circulation issues with the large rocks. Personally I found this to be a great addition.

You know, I've got a really cool river rock background on my 75, it fits in perfect because I have some medium to large river rocks & sunfish in there. But on my 29 I was really leaning towards & wanting to paint the back. Either black or blue.

I always left the light on that long with just the fish in there, so I left that the same. First time doing planted, know a lot of nothing about aquatic plants. Any brand recommendation for the ferts?

Ok I have red ludwigia, Java fern, anubias nana, and small plant that looks like bean sprouts that I can't remember it's name. I used api root tabs per instructions on package. I have a marineland led light that runs 10-12 hours a day. Sorry for Christmas tree light reflection.

That is so cool. The pics I saw didn't do it justice. How big is it? Can't wait to see the tank cycled with your fish in it. I have a few tanks. 75 is my largest. I wanted at least a 120/125 but I saw the 75 for a deal and couldn't wait. Now I wish I had.

Wow. This is really cool. I really like the layered carpet pad. My grandpa made train boards & displays. One in particular he did the same with ceiling tiles from a drop ceiling. After paint and all finished product looked great. Can't wait to see how yours comes out. Looks good.
