Prince is pretty much the same. have been off Furan2/aqua salt for about five days now and seem to be getting more black in his fins again. Still have water at half level. He still has a "betta" appetite. Thinking of trying another round of Kanaplex to see if that does anything maybe through...

BTW...his tank does have live several live plants (see pic). I am also attaching pictures of him today 9/29/17. :(

On another note...has anyone seen that furan2 has a potential to raise nitrates? Prince's tank has always run below 5ppm. For the last couple of days I have seen a spike in nitrates. Still below the 20ppm mark (so hard to tell on the api freshwater test what the actual reading is). I have...

Thank you, lewis.r, I am praying we do not have to do this. So much conflicting information on the internet. I will research before I do anything. I still have hope. He is having trouble now finding his food (or at least catching it at first blow) this seems to be taking a lot out of him...

Thank you, Angellove78. I have read that Melafix and other "fixes" is not good for bettas because it damages the labyrinth organ. Prince is still the same. Today is the sixth dose of Furan2. Hoping I do not have to euthanize - told my husband last night if it comes to that he will have to do...

salt is about 1/2 teaspoon per gal. I did bring the water level down just so he doesn't have to strained too much to get to the top for his food. I am guessing i have 3.5 to 4 gals of water in his 10 gal tank.

No improvement in Prince's state of being - still lethargic, lay at bottom (sometimes also completely flat). He is spending less time perched upon the heater. I think it takes too much energy. Day 4 of Furan2 treatment. He is still interested in food. I do see some improvement in his fins -...

Thank you. Just dosed the furan2. He is looking pretty sad. He is laying on a pothos leaf at the top of his tank. It just occurred to me that perhaps I am poisoning him with this...???... I read somewhere else that these are great nitrate suckers and are completely benign to fish. I hope...

Sorry...one more question...should I treat internally (i.e. get the meds into his food) or treat the tank or both? I can google how to get the meds into the food if that is required. thank you.

Thank you. I will go and get some Furan 2 today. Should I run the carbon first to remove the Rid Ich Plus (last does was last night before bed about 8 hours ago). Should I dose salt at the same time? Sorry if links answer this, will look at them now.

Thank you. Do you think the rounds of Erthomyicin and/ or Kanaplex would have taken care of this? Or maybe I needed to extend the treatment time of the Kanaplex. Do you think the nerite snail could have brought the parasites in? Should I clear the Ich Rid Plus out and dose Kanaplex again...
