    Help! Lion won't eat frozen

I agree with all the comments about krill. I recently bought a lion and it initially only ate live fish. Over the course of a week I would dance a piece of krill in front of it trying to entice it to eat (no garlic). Now, ever time I place krill in the tank the lion is all over it. Moving...

They do that. It is not unusual for them to deflate down, especially at night. As long as your water parameters were fine and it didn't receive a bad shock it will be okay.

    cloudy eye on Oscar

Don't know if you saw my post on the other thread but it could be a few different things: bacterial infection (which could result from susceptibility due to stress from new tank), trauma, or inflammation. Melafix helped clear up my Oscar's eyes and there are a lot of commercial treatments out...

    Oscar jumped out of tank!

Yeah, I looked around on the web and it looks like "cloudy eye" is actually pretty common and can result from a whole host of problems, including bacterial infection, inflammation, and trauma. You might want to try Menagerie's suggestion, Melafix, since it's supposed to treat cloudy eye too. I...

    Freshwater to Saltwater: Equipment changes?

LOL, my friend had just told me he bought a skimmer from captivereefs.com right before I saw the posts. I'll have to check the site out! I am definitely getting the Aqua C Remora with the Maxijet 1200.

    Freshwater to Saltwater: Equipment changes?

Yes, I think I will stick with my current light setup but will go for a skimmer. From what I've seen on this board, it looks like the HOT Aqua C would be a good choice so I think I will get that one.

    Freshwater to Saltwater: Equipment changes?

Fortunately the guy who sold me the stuff was using an actinic Coralife bulb and a Sylvania Coralstar bulb. I realize this still isn't enough for corals, etc. but I figured it would work for live rock in a FO system. Is that true? And kind of like you, Iziarek, I'm on the "installment plan" of...

    Freshwater to Saltwater: Equipment changes?

Thanks both of you. That is good advice on getting started. Light is actually the one thing I am set for; the guy who owned my tank previously did saltwater so I have a dual strip with two marine/coral specific lights. I am also lucky in having all the test kits and a hydrometer. It looks like...

    Freshwater to Saltwater: Equipment changes?

Hi, I am making the jump from freshwater to FOWLR saltwater. I would appreciate any comments on my current equipment setup. I will be using a 46 gal. bowfront. I currently have: 1.)HOT Magnum Pro 30: It's done a great job with messy cichlids but based on what I've seen in these forums, I'd...

    Oscar jumped out of tank!

Great, thanks for all the advice. :D Yep, they are still young and small but there is no way I would try to keep all of these guys in this tank. I was actually going to change over to saltwater and had been looking for a good home for these guys before this mishap. Now I am putting that on...

    Oscar jumped out of tank!

Thanks, Menagerie. I will try both the salt and melafix (if I can find some). How much salt would you recommend? I have a 46 gallon bow front w/ another Oscar, a pleco, and a Severum. The two Oscars seem to be companions so the other one is keeping the albino company right now...Hope he makes...

    Oscar jumped out of tank!

So, the Oscar is looking better and moving a little but mostly sitting on the tank bottom. I am worried about his sight; both eyes are clouded over and I suspect this is why he won't move. I'm assuming this is from getting dried out from air exposure. Does anyone know if this will heal or is...

    Oscar jumped out of tank!

This is a bad way to get introduced to the forum but I think my albino Tiger Oscar may be dying due to my stupidity. I took my glass top off to repair a break in it and didn't cover the top of the tank back up. Sure enough, my albino Oscar jumped out. I found him not moving with gills barely...
