Thanks for your help. I was reading and I think I may have found my culprit. I have a large bristle star that I guess can eat fish. Hmm will have to figure out what to do with him if he is the one eating my fish. Have you heard of a starfish eating fish?

I just started up a 29 gallon reef tank. Has live sand/rock.....all water levels seem fine. But getting a brownish algae all over the glass and rocks and sand. Not sure what is wrong. HELP

I have a 40 gallon tank that I will be using as a reef tank. I have a HOB Protein Skimmer, heater, maxijet 900, Filstar filter, dual compacts.......I will be adding sand and water soon but want to make sure I have not missed anything.

For substrate I am using 2 1/2 inch of sand and will be adding live rock as soon as the water is stable. I have a dual compact lighting unit and a protein skimmer and a canister filter as well.
